Finding the Perfect Meeting Time

Context

Sue is telling her colleagues about scheduling a difficult meeting with Tom, a client

Short Story

Hi everyone. I want to tell you about my interesting day yesterday. I needed to schedule a meeting with our client Tom. It was not easy!

First, I called Tom in the morning. I said, ‘Let’s meet this week to talk about the project.’ Tom was very busy. So I said, ‘How about Tuesday at 10?’ But Tom said, ‘Sorry, I’m not free on Tuesday.’

Then I tried again. I said, ‘Are you free on Wednesday afternoon?’ Tom checked his calendar and said, ‘I can’t make it on Wednesday. I have another meeting.’

I didn’t give up. I said, ‘We could meet on Thursday morning.’ But Tom said, ‘That doesn’t suit me. I will be out of the office.’

So I tried one more time. I said, ‘If that doesn’t suit you, we could meet on Friday at 2.’ Tom checked his calendar again. Then he said, ‘OK, yes I’m free on Friday at 2. I can make it on that day.’

I was so happy! It was difficult, but we found a good time. Now I have a meeting with Tom on Friday at 2. Sometimes it’s hard to find the right time, but we must keep trying!
