Lexical Investigation With Story
You won’t believe the day I had yesterday! Everything seemed to involve something ‘spare.’ It started when Tom from Accounting couldn’t get into the office because he’d forgotten his main key. Luckily, I keep a spare key for emergencies like this.
Then things got really busy. The manager asked if I could spare some time to help with an urgent project. I usually try to use my spare time carefully, but this seemed important. While I was helping with that, we got a call from Jenny in Sales – her car had broken down in the parking lot. Thank goodness she had a spare wheel in her trunk, but she needed help changing it.
During lunch, I went to organize the spare room where we keep extra office supplies. We’ve been using spare parts for the old printer sparingly because they’re hard to find now. I found some old furniture that had been spared from destruction when we renovated last year – it might be useful someday.
By afternoon, I was getting tired of emergencies. When Tom came to ask for help again, I had to say ‘spare me the details – I’m too busy!’ But you know what’s funny? Even at home, I couldn’t escape it. My sister called to ask if she could use my spare room next weekend when she visits.
I’ve learned that it’s always good to have something spare – whether it’s time, supplies, or space. You never know when you might need it!
