Basic Structure

The Present Continuous is formed using am/is/are + verb-ing. For example: I am working, She is studying, They are playing.

Main Uses

1. Actions happening right now: I am writing an email.
2. Future arrangements: We are meeting Tom tomorrow.
3. Temporary situations: I am living with my parents until I find an apartment.

Forming the -ing

Add -ing to the base verb. Remember:
– For verbs ending in -e: remove e, add -ing (make → making)
– For short verbs with vowel-consonant: double the consonant (run → running)

Examples

Look! It's raining outside.Action happening right now
I'm having dinner with Sarah next Friday.Future arrangement already planned
She's studying English at university this year.Temporary situation
