New EU Border Rules: Chaos and Long Queues

Students have read an A2 news article about Europe's Entry-Exit System (EES) causing dangerous queues and travel disruption at airports and border crossings, and are now ready to discuss the topic using ten key vocabulary terms.

Learning objectives:
• Use and explain the ten target terms (entry-exit system, biometric data, Schengen zone, border crossing, queue chaos, overhaul, suspend, peak traffic, disruption, fingerprints) in spoken sentences
• Describe a cause-and-effect relationship using 'because', 'so', and 'this means that' — for example, explaining why EES causes long queues
• Express an opinion about a news topic using simple structures: 'I think…', 'I don't think…', 'In my opinion…'
• Report what someone said using simple present reporting: 'He says the system needs…', 'They say only twenty airports…'
