1 Section 1. Start Your Cruise: Booking and Embarking
Thinking about a holiday at sea? You can book a cruise online or with a travel agent. When you book, you choose a cruise line and a ship. The cruise ship is a huge floating hotel with restaurants, pools, and shows. On the day you leave, you go to the cruise terminal at the port. There, you show your documents and then you embark – that means you get on the ship. The crew welcomes you and shows you to your cabin. After everyone is on board, the ship will set sail and leave the port. It’s an exciting moment! Remember, you are a passenger, and the crew are there to help you. Your holiday has begun.
2 Section 2. Life on Board: Your Cabin and the Ship
Your cabin is your room on the ship. It’s small but comfortable, with a bed and a bathroom. If you want a view of the sea, you can choose a balcony cabin – it has a little outdoor area with chairs. The ship has many decks, like floors in a building. You can walk around, find the swimming pool, or go to the buffet for a meal. The buffet has lots of food, so you can choose what you like. In the evening, there is entertainment – shows, music, and games. On a sea day, the ship doesn’t stop at any port, so you spend the whole day relaxing and having fun on board. If the sea is rough, you might feel seasick, but the crew can help you feel better.
3 Section 3. Exploring Ports and Shore Activities
When the ship arrives at a port, it will dock – that means it stops and ties up so passengers can get off. You can go ashore and visit the town or city. Many people buy a shore excursion, which is a planned trip or activity on land, like a bus tour or a visit to a beach. Before you go, check the itinerary – it tells you the dates and times for each port. You need to be back on the ship before it leaves! At the end of the cruise, you disembark – you get off the ship for the last time. That’s when you say goodbye to the crew and the ship.
4 Section 4. All-Inclusive Cruises and Safety
Some cruises are all-inclusive, which means the price covers your cabin, meals, drinks, and many activities. That makes it easy to relax without worrying about extra costs. But remember, safety is important on a ship. There is a safety drill on the first day, and you must know where your life jacket is. The crew explains everything clearly. Even if you are a good swimmer, the ocean is very big and can be dangerous, so always listen to the crew’s instructions. With an all-inclusive cruise, you can enjoy the food, the shows, and the views – and feel safe too.
