1 The Holiday Planning Meeting

It was a sunny Saturday afternoon when Bob hosted a gathering at his house to plan their group summer holiday. Four friends sat around his living room table, surrounded by travel brochures and laptops. Jenny, an enthusiastic hiker, was keen to go to the mountains, while Bill couldn’t stop talking about wanting to go to the beach. Jane, always practical about money, was comparing prices between hotels and B&B options.

‘We could go abroad,’ suggested Bob, scrolling through flight deals. ‘Or we might consider a holiday at home to save money.’ The group debated whether to go by car, go by train, or fly. Jenny dreamed of going hiking in the Alps, while Bill was more interested in going sunbathing on Mediterranean shores.

‘If we choose a full-board hotel, we won’t need to worry about meals,’ Jane pointed out, ‘though half-board might be cheaper, and we could eat out some evenings.’ The discussion grew heated when Bill suggested luxury camping as a compromise – an idea that made Jenny relax visibly, while Jane looked skeptical.
