Monologue

You wouldn’t believe what happened on our holiday last week! Bob had invited us all to stay at his mountain cabin before heading to the beach resort, and everything started off perfectly. Bill was excited about the beach part, of course – he’d been talking about sunbathing and lolling around doing nothing for weeks. Jane had found some amazing deals on accommodations, as usual.

The first few days in the mountains were fantastic – hiking, taking photos, enjoying the cool air. But then, oh my goodness, the drama started when we were heading to the beach resort. We were about halfway there when our rental car just decided to give up. Right there, in the middle of nowhere, with the sun beating down mercilessly.

We called for assistance, and they made us wait hours – literally hours! You can imagine how that went down. The air conditioning stopped working, and we were stuck there in the sweltering heat. Tempers got a bit short, I’ll admit. Bill kept complaining about missing his precious beach time, and Jane was worried about losing our resort deposit if we didn’t make it there in time.

Eventually, after what felt like an eternity, the repair truck showed up. The mechanic took one look at the car and said we’d need a replacement vehicle. More waiting! But luckily, it turned out fine in the end. The rental company sent us a new car, and we finally made it to the resort just as the sun was setting.

The funny thing is, once we got there, everything was perfect. The next few days were exactly what we needed – Bill got his wish of sunbathing all day, Jane found some great local restaurants that didn’t break the bank, and I discovered I absolutely love snorkeling! Who would’ve thought? Bob kept saying the car breakdown would make a great story someday, and well… here I am telling it!
