1 Planning Your Meeting

You have chosen to learn about 20 Terms for ‘Business Meetings’, let’s get started. When you want to call a meeting, you organize it and ask people to come together. You need to arrange a meeting by planning when it happens. Then you schedule a meeting and decide the exact time. You also need a meeting room where people can meet for business. Every meeting needs an agenda, which is a list of topics to discuss. After you plan everything, people will attend a meeting and be present there.

2 Changing Meeting Times

Sometimes you need to change your meeting time. You can postpone a meeting and move it to a later time. You can also put off a meeting, which means to delay it until later. If you want to meet earlier, you can bring forward a meeting to an earlier time. When you change the date or time, you reschedule a meeting. Sometimes you need to cancel a meeting completely, so it will not happen.

3 Leading a Meeting

When you hold a meeting, you organize it and make it happen. You can also run a meeting, which means you organize and lead it. The person who leads the meeting will chair a meeting and control it. At the start, someone will open a meeting officially. During the meeting, someone will take minutes and write notes about what happens. At the end, someone will close a meeting officially.

4 Taking Part in Meetings

When you have a meeting, you participate in a scheduled group discussion. You can participate in a meeting and take an active part in it. Sometimes people cannot meet in person, so they have a conference call. This is a meeting where people talk by telephone. You can join a conference call from your office or home.
