1 Mental State Verbs
You have chosen to learn about 20 Essential STATE verbs, let’s get started. Some verbs describe what happens in your mind. You know facts and information. You understand when something is clear to you. You think when you have an opinion or idea. You remember information from the past, but sometimes you forget it. You believe something when you think it is true, and you suppose something when you think it is probably true.
2 Emotions and Preferences
Some verbs describe your feelings and what you enjoy. You like things that make you happy. You love people or things with very strong feelings. You prefer one thing when you like it more than another thing. You want something when you desire it, and you need something when it is necessary. You hate things you dislike very strongly, and you feel emotions or sensations in your body and mind.
3 Appearance and Meaning
Two verbs help you talk about how things appear and what words express. Something seems a certain way when it appears to be that way. A word or action means something when it expresses or signifies an idea. You also agree with someone when you have the same opinion as them.
4 Possession and Belonging
Some verbs describe relationships between people and things. You own something when you possess it. Something belongs to you when you are the owner. A box or container contains things when it has them inside.
